Clinical Applications Course

The Clinical Applications Course is designed to give students clinical practice in an academic setting.  In this level, the third of the 4-part (se) certification, students will begin to combine gait analysis, standing postural assessment, and functional strength testing with the manual therapy skills from the Clinical Skills Course.  This class will also include Acupuncture/ Dry Needling techniques for effectively deactivating focal adhesions through the process of mechanotransduction.  With the full set of “tools” in the “toolbox”, focus will shift to critical thinking and differential implementation of skills.  In addition to Acupuncture/ Dry Needling techniques, students will learn to determine myofascial compliance.

Structural Elements uses biomechanical assessment and a palpatory sequence to pinpoint tissue irregularities of a kinematic pattern.  This pattern has a direct correlation with visceral displacement and Five-Element organ disharmony.  The framework that (se) provides to students yields fast clinical results that extend beyond structure and improve internal health.  Success for an endurance athlete requires more than mechanical efficiency alone and it is in this course that students learn the importance of treating the whole athlete.

This course includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Gait Analysis
  • BioMechanical Assessment
  • Functional Strength Testing
  • Clinical Implementation of Manual Techniques
  • Acupuncture/ Dry Needling Techniques
  • Assessment of Myofascial Compliance
  • Five-Element Pattern Identification

Prerequisites: Therapeutic Assessment Course, Clinical Skills Course.  Students must be either currently licensed to preform Acupuncture/ Dry Needling or be at a point in a degree seeking program where they are treating patients in a supervised clinical setting.
