Anne began her career as a professional dancer and actress. She received her undergraduate degrees in Theatre Studies and Dance from Emerson College and her MFA in Acting from the University of California, Davis. As an educator her area of expertise is teaching Movement for Actors. She continues to teach those courses in higher education and private schools around the PA/MD/DC region.

Anne first transitioned into private practice when she enrolled at the Laban Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS) in NY, NY to become a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA). The Laban language is both a way of seeing clients more clearly, and a doorway through which to guide them in personal exploration and growth. She works with clients to achieve more movement efficiency, to break unhealthy patterns, and to create healthful body mechanics. The way an individual moves is the way they learn and function in the world. Anne’s specialty is exploring those patterns by integrating the LIMS work with exercises on the Pilates Reformer. Testimonials

Structural Elements® is the best clinic in Maryland by far. We've been seeing Dave Everhart for years. With Dave keeping us in the best shape, we've netted an Ironman team championship and two world competitions. Healthy muscles are fast muscles. We will be lifetime clients of (se)®!

Matt Clark

Doug is nothing short of a magician. I have been battling knee pain since my early 20's and back issues (on and off) for the past couple of years. Doug immediately found imbalances in my feet, of all places. After a few adjustments, I was brought immediate relief and more importantly, *sustained* relief. Just phenomenal stuff - I cannot recommend (se)® enough!

Kenny Volk

Always a great experience at Structural Elements®. The staff is always polite and attentive. My therapist, Chuck, has been a great help in the healing process and preparation for my orthoscopic surgery. He's very conscientious of the right acupuncture point in relation to any condition you are experiencing. He's very informative as to what to expect from the treatment. I haven't had a bad experience yet. I would highly recommend a visit if you are a sports enthusiast or fitness buff.

Michael Cox

Doug Bertram and his team are among the most knowledgeable, professional and best in the world at what they do. Doug accompanied me to the Badwater 135, a 135 mile race across the hottest desert in the world recognized by National Geographic as the toughest race in the world. I was nearly knocked out at mile 80 but Doug got me back into the race after about 20 minutes of body work. After the race he did an acupuncture session and I felt so good I hiked 22 miles up to the top of Mt. Whitney for the first time in my life. The Structural Elements® office is state of the art. Doug is always striving to provide the leading techniques to treat pain, injures or to prevent.

Harvey Lewis

Last year at this time I was hit with a terrible case of plantar fasciitis after my first attempt at a 50 miler. The pain in my foot was so bad, I was unable to stand on it getting out of bed in the morning. While it would loosen up after moving around and after running for a mile or so, within minutes of stopping it would severely tighten up again. I was on the brink of giving up my plans to train for a spring 50k and Ironman the following fall. On a friend's recommendation, I went to Structural Elements® to see Doug. After my first visit, he determined it was a mis-alignment of my hips that was causing the foot pain. After only two treatments, I was running moderate distances without pain and after three I was back on track completing my long runs of 15+ miles with no side effects. I completed the 50k in April - second in my age group. Later in the year I set a PR in the half-Ironman triathlon and just this weekend, another PR in the full Ironman. As the owner of a triathlon store, I see customers all the time with these types of injuries. Most have been told by doctors to take anti-inflamatory drugs, get cortisone shots or even surgery. Most have been told to stop running. On the contrary, Doug suggested I keep running to let my body learn how to run when properly aligned. Based my positive experience, I've sent countless customers to Structural Elements®, and continue to hear results similar to mine. Thank you, Doug and SE® for swimming against the current. I couldn't have done it without you!

Alex Korab

I've been to Structural Elements® several times over the last 2 years and have been treated for a range of different problems, including: back and neck pain, migraines, and 2 tailbone injuries. Much of the pain and problems I was experiencing were a result of very poor alignment, and Doug was successfully able to help put my body back into proper functioning alignment. Through treatment sessions, I was able to greatly decrease my pain, recover quicker from injuries, and eliminate my migraines all together. I find myself amazed at how quickly he is able to identify the underlying cause of pain and treat accordingly from the start. If you are experiencing any sort of chronic pain or problem, I highly recommend a visit.

Hannah Ghattas

I have been seeing Doug Bertram for about two years for various aches and pains. I just tell him what hurts and he figures it out...I've come to understand that pain in your knee can come from just about anywhere originally...but through his bodywork and acupuncture, I am a better and stronger person. He has a wonderful team of professionals that work together to treat the "whole person" and that is a great thing especially in today's atmosphere. I joke to him that I am "Humpty Dumpty" and he is constantly putting me back together!

Carolyn Classen

Everyone in our family, including my husband and me and two teenage daughters have had sessions at Structural Elements® which have greatly reduced pain and helped to promote healing. The girls play sports in high school and college, and my husband and I both enjoy exercise and maintaining an active lifestyle. The therapeutic treatments from acupuncture to sports massage have been a tremendous help! Doug and the entire staff are extremely knowledgable and professional!

Ann Smeltzer Fulton

I have NEVER been able to find permanent relief to my hip/SI and shoulder pain before befinning treatment with Doug at Structural Elements®. Having background in physical therapy myself, I am of the same mindset that we must find the root cause of the imbalances and not just where today's pain happens to be. Doug and the entire SE® staff do just that! I will be a lifer at SE® for all my future structural treatments and maintenance!

Tiffany Nedela O'Reilly

I spent six years of my life in chronic pain and went through painful procedures and surgeries just praying for some sort of relief that never happened...then almost two years ago I had my first treatment with Doug and I cannot thank him enough for everything he did to ensure I would live my life entirely pain free!

Mandy Hall

The best customer service around. Educated professionals that will go out of their way to care for you. Adjustments that last, tips on staying aligned, and the overall caring atmosphere that is TOTALLY patient centered!

Tia Waltemire Wright

Nothing but praise for this place. Where have they been all my life?
